International chefs and critics taste Alentejo Olive Oil

Alentejo olive oils were the stars of the gastronomic journey that brought seven international chefs and critics to the region on the 18th, 19th and 20th of April. This journey was organised by CEPAAL – Centro de Estudos e Promoção do Azeite do Alentejo (Centre for the Study and Promotion of Alentejo Olive Oil), with the objective of making Alentejo Olive Oil available for tasting, not only in its pure form, but also as a basic ingredient in the Mediterranean diet.
David Santos, from the United States, Óscar Bosch, from Brazil and Allan Poulsen, from Denmark are the chefs who are part of the group of participants. The critics Dorit Schimdt, from Germany, Josimar Melo, from Brazil, Anna Berghe from Switzerland and the Brazilian consultant Marcelo Scofano will also be present.
The programme includes visits to olive groves and mills, olive oil tastings and sampling of dishes inspired by and paired with Alentejo olive oils. This region, with its rich and varied landscape, is where 78% of the olive oil in Portugal is produced (2017/2018 marketing year).
