Germans sample Alentejo Olive Oil during Berlin International Green Week

Azeite do Alentejo is going to be showcased to German consumers between 19th and 28th January at the Berlin International Green Week, one of the most important international fairs dedicated to food and agriculture, which has been taking place in the German capital for 83 years. The event brings together over 1600 companies and organisations, who have made preparations to show more than 100 thousand food products from all corners of the world.
This is the first time that CEPAAL – Centro de Estudos e Promoção do Azeito do Alentejo (Centre for the Study and Promotion of Alentejo Olive Oil) – will be present at the Berlin International Green Week. It will be in Hall 7.2c, at stand 109, as part of the InovCluster – Associação do Cluster Agro-Industrial do Centro collective stand.
German consumers will have the chance to get to know the main autochthonous olive tree varieties from this region and taste an exceptional quality olive oil, still fairly unknown in this market. Olive oil is not the most widely consumed vegetable oil in Germany (that position is held by rapeseed oil), but its nutritional advantages have been attracting an increasing number of consumers.
The promotional initiative at International Green Week has been organized within the scope of the project “Promoção do Azeite do Alentejo nos Mercados Externos” (Promoting Alentejo Olive Oil in Foreign Markets), whereby CEPAAL aims to reinforce its foreign promotion strategy and make Alentejo Olive Oil and the companies producing it known to new markets. The objective is to contribute towards an increase in exports, making this product collectively visible, stimulating the economy in the region and making the sector more competitive.
