Alentejo Olive Oil on board TAP

Over the course of six days, Alentejo Olive Oil is going to be on board TAP planes heading for Germany, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, the United States and Sweden, in a partnership between the airline and CEPAAL – Centro de Estudos e Promoção do Azeite do Alentejo (Centre for the Study and Promotion of Alentejo Olive Oils).

In total, up to 31st March, 3300 25 ml bottles of olive oil will be offered to passengers in business class on 289 of the company’s flights, aiming to showcase the olive oil from the biggest productive region in Portugal. The samples will have olive oils with different profiles and from different producers in the Alentejo, from small farms and cooperatives to large estates.

The six destination countries were identified by CEPAAL’s members as being strategic markets for the internationalisation process. The partnership with TAP is therefore a fundamental step in showcasing this excellent product internationally.

The initiative is part of the project “Promoção do Azeite do Alentejo nos Mercados Externos” (Promoting Alentejo Olive Oil in Foreign Markets), whereby CEPAAL aims to reinforce its foreign promotion strategy and make Alentejo Olive Oil and the companies producing it known to new markets. The idea is to contribute towards an increase in exports, making this product collectively visible, stimulating the economy in the region and making the sector more competitive.

The project “Promoção do Azeite do Alentejo nos Mercados Externos”(Promoting Alentejo Olive Oils in Foreign Markets) is co-financed by Alentejo 2020, within the scope of the Alentejo Regional Operating Programme. The total investment amounts to 320,682 euros, of which 256,546 is from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
